Over the years I have written and talked about the essential aspects of psychic power and intuition. First, both of these aspects of our spiritual power work hand in hand, and since we as a global consciousness, have evolved and opened more to our inner resources these abilities are even more magnified within our psyches. I have seen an interesting shift in the perception of what being psychic means to my students and clients. I have always been an advocate of teaching the truth about psychic power as being spiritual skill of the soul, and not a circus side show bit. Psychic is of the soul, and since we are all souls then we are endowed with psychic potential. So being psychic is not a “special” gift given to only a few, it is part of the spiritual makeup of every soul. As our soul evolves, our psychic potential evolves and we are becoming vastly multidimensional. The next step in psychic awareness is the understanding of what we can do in helping the “shift” of our planet along by using our psychic intuitive power.
There are two questions I am most often asked by students during my workshops and personal consultations.
1. Am I a Psychic or an Intuitive?
2. Is there a difference between the two terms?
My answer to both questions is a definitive Yes. Yes, you are both psychic and intuitive, and yes, there is a HUGE difference between the two terms. But they work hand in hand with each other. Think of the term psychic as being an extended level of intuition. Intuition is more of an energy language of the soul. It’s an extra sense that is more personal in nature for an individual. It’s a whisper from your higher self. Think of intuition as more directed internally. Intuition springs forth many spiritual tools such as energy healing, hunches, gut feelings and meditative awareness and creativity. Subtle power is the nature of intuition. Intuition always directs us back to ourselves. It also gives us helpful information for our path. Psychic is more extroverted and impersonal in its energetic nature. It’s a magnification of intuitive awareness in the process of accessing energy more from others and the environment. Psychic power is the ability to access information from energy and intelligences outside of one’s inner personal dynamics. Psychic ability springs forth the gifts of reading others with clairvoyance, communicating with the dead, accessing potential future realities, and medical clairvoyance. These are all psychic powers, just to name a few.
Intuition is more personal and psychic is more impersonal in its accessing of energetic information. You can also think of psychic being the expanded mind that accesses energetic information and intuition is the key it uses in the interpretation of the energy information accurately and with clarity. When I do my healing sessions, I’ll see a vision or get an impression of my client, psychically. Then I run it through my intuition by asking….what does this mean for my client? By that action I have given my intuition permission to access the personal results of the psychic vision. That’s why many people have visions or psychic flashes about something but they never think to ask their intuition for its clarity on them. They are so hung up on the “glamour” of the vision that they have forgotten to ask for its meaning and direction, intuitively. I see many psychic people out there that talk to the dead, or psychically tap into people with great accuracy, but they are missing one thing. Their spiritual connection to their intuitive voice. Remember intuition is your direct communication link from your higher self. So many who are psychic are truly talented, but their information has no gravitas at all because they are not asking the deeper meanings. You can also have someone, mostly healers and counselors that are highly intuitive by feeling people’s emotions, and their pain. By asking your psychic self to elaborate you can get the actual vision of the situations in that person’s life that may have caused the dis-eased feelings. I hope you can now see the essential union of both psychic and intuitive powers. You can see a great example of the union of Psychic Intuition with medical Intuitives. They’re able to psychically see the diseased area of the body, and through their intuitive connection they are able to get the information of why the organ of disease has manifested in the body. Like I always say, trying to be “psychic” without a strong spiritual/intuitive foundation is like living in Wisconsin with a lactose intolerance problem.

In an era of “seek and ye shall find” we are all in great hunger for something more. We attend self-improvement seminars, read spiritual literature, take a crack at yoga, attempt to eat better and try to create a better perspective on life, hoping that these acts of service will appease some divine universal force that will help us overcome our sometimes troubled waters. We do these “healthy” things for ourselves with the intent to be wholesome, but in the back of our mind we are hoping Fate will look down on us and say, “Ok, you ate some organic corn flakes, so we will let you have a day without famine.” We are always looking for that little extra security in a sometimes-fearful world. We were all taught that security here in the physical world comes from a good job and financial gain. That is true, but it’s only one facet of security. It’s a type of physical security that carries no guarantees that it will last. Authentic security does not come from the outside of us in. It comes from the inside out. In a society built on class distinction, good looks and cash flow, it’s hard to really know what our true self is and where our authentic inner strength and stability come from. All we know is we sense there is something more. There is something that keeps tapping at our hearts and beckoning us to seek farther beyond what we can see with our eyes. What is the real reason for living? Is it a process of being a monk meditating on a mountaintop with nothing but a strong connection to God? Or is it living in the “real” world with a big house, good job, and no financial worries? The good news is you can have both. You can be a wealthy, healthy spiritual monk in the world with money in the bank and a fast car to zip around in. We can be spiritual beings with strong physical securities. But this balance and abundance must come from within first.
As a professional psychic and spiritual teacher, I have witnessed, myself included, hundreds of people struggle with the inner conflict of the spiritual vs. the physical. I suspect one of the biggest reasons is because the majority of us were not taught about our psychic natures. However, we are all psychic beings. The word, psychic, means, of the soul. Since we all have souls, we are all endowed with psychic potential. The word psychic brings into our mind the power of “knowing things”, of getting a map of life so we can see and be warned of any sudden turns or roadblocks. Psychic power is much more than that. It is unfortunate that the phenomenon of psychic potential, in most cases, has been withered down to a simple act of getting the answers (we want) so we won’t have to deal with challenges.
As a psychic who feels called to help others connect with their own inner psychic, my role is to encourage clients to deal with their challenges, not escape them. Accepting your true psychic nature means taking your power back and redirecting your life. That is why we are all reluctant psychics to some degree. We are afraid of the power and total responsibility that comes with owning our psychic potential. It’s easier to play victim and blame someone else. But, how far has that approach gotten us? To be truly in control of our lives, we must learn to take the reins and drive toward our destinies with full psychic force. The first step to psychic awareness is that you must realize you are essentially a soul with a divine right to live in abundance, balance and security. Security is not always knowing you will have money in the bank, but it is your “inner psychic self” telling you that you will be taken care of and how to take the steps to keeping yourself above water. That’s what inner security is all about. Psychics are not people who are going to give you all the answers to life’s questions. If they are worth their salt, they guide you to understand what your life path is really all about and how you have all the guidance within you. Psychics are meant to be spiritual directors, not fortunetellers. Your inner psychic is the reason you get up in the morning. It’s that extra push you get when you think you cannot go on. It’s telling you to keep going.
For many thousands of years people have flocked to wise men and woman needing reassurance of their existence here on earth. I believe that we have entered a time when all of us are now forced to go truly within and live from seeing life, not in front of our eyes, but by the power behind our eyes, our psychic eyes. Part of the reason we are here on earth is to bring something sacred to the planet. Everyone has something to bestow here. Part of the psychic journey of the soul is to seek and reclaim what that something is. Your inner psychic already knows the reason you are here and the gifts you have to offer. Psychic, the word itself implies an unseen force that is a director and a hope builder; it knows the unknown, the great mystery. I’m not talking about knowing lotto numbers; I’m talking about knowing that somehow, some way, you have something to give and that you are going to make it in this life. If you were not supposed to “make it” here on earth, you would not be here at all. Psychic ability is a knowing that the habits in life you are investing energy in and that are not good for you need to stop. Understanding your psychic potential means being conscious about your life within and without. Cultivating this essential power is a life-long spiritual practice of relying on yourself within and “knowing” you are on the right track and when you need an inner tune-up. And as you connect with and rely on your power within, the less reluctant and the more psychic you will become.
